First Month!

So, today Maya is 1 month old! It’s not so long, in the scheme of things, but it seems like so long, and so short at the same time. So much has happened already, and there’s still so much to do! So here’s a list of all the things I can think of that have happened in the first month:

Friend Unjustly Imprisoned in Solomon Islands

What follows is a short letter, detailing a terrible situation that a college friend of mine is in. I’m not sure what I can personally do to help, but maybe someone knows someone who knows someone. Though unlikely, it can’t hurt to bring attention to such things when they unfortunately occur.

I write to you today about a close friend, RPI graduate, and Hyde Park, New York native, who is currently being detained in the Solomon Islands for illegally entering the country. Mr. Justin Taylan leads a non-profit group that specializes in discovering, investigating, and cataloging World War II era aircraft, particularly from the Pacific theater. He takes frequent trips
to the Pacific to investigate new leads and meet with friends and acquaintances associated with his organization, Pacific Wrecks.

First two weeks in the baby land…

I’d like to start this post by saying how incredibly happy I am to have become a mother. It is the best thing that ever happened to me since marrying the father of our little daughter (I am sure he will read this one :P).
It has now been two weeks since our little one has started looking at this world from the other side. I must say, she is enjoying it so far, as far as we can tell. At first it was very unpleasant for her to deal with different nurses in the hospital, constantly pointing out to her how she should drink mommy’s milk, be changed, be washed and stop expressing her emotions in the form of crying.
