Maya loves the animals and since she is already able to imitate the sounds they make, I thought it would be a good idea to go and visit the animal kingdom on my day off.

Our Maya started her with new kindergarten experience two weeks ago. The first two weeks were tough for all of us. A lot of tears, bad feelings and sadness of leaving the baby with strangers.

This past month has really been an important one for Maya. She’ll be turning 11 months on Tuesday, and I just wanted to get down everything that’s been going on with her, once again, so as not to forget. From our side, Maya finally started kindergarden, though only a few hours at a time to start with. Right now, the Austrians are thinking, “finally?”, since most kids start going much later than they do in the states. And the Americans are thinking “Kindergarden?” since here, daycare is called kindergarden. The kindergarden where Maya is takes kids from 0-3 years old.

Last Monday, Maya started kindergarten! We went every day this week, but only for a few hours at a time, to get her used to it. And so, Mommy, Daddy, and Maya all drove to the UN together, and spent some time getting used to the teachers, other kids, and boxes of new toys.

Our dear friend Josine came over from Amsterdam to spend a long weekend with us. We haven’t seen each other since my baby shower in November, so it has now been almost one year.
